Wonderful Weekends

Now that I am a working woman...Woohoo!...I love my weekends!  And this happened to be a fabulous one!

Friday... Dinner with friends we haven't seen in a while which included nursery talks with our beautiful prego friend, one bouncy baby girl, a bonfire, s'mores, and lots of fabulous friend time.

Saturday... Paisley woke up at 5:30 despite the fact she always sleeps until at least 6 if not later.  So my gorgeous husband took her out while I slept in...did I mention how amazing my husband is?

Then we watched college game day and made pancakes.  With Chocolate Chips!
I was a little low on syrup though so I decided to make my own.  YUM!...if I do say so myself.  It was so easy.  Here is the recipe I used...

1 1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
3/4 c. water
1 tbsp. butter
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring

Mix brown sugar, water, butter, and salt in saucepan.  Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat.  Stir in maple flavoring.  Serve warm.
Be care not to overcook.  I think I cooked it too long because after it cooled all the way, it was more like thick honey than syrup.  But it was very good and it was great on the pancakes.
I totally recommend trying in it.

In the afternoon, we finally got around to picking our sweet potatoes.  Boy was that fun!  No really...it was like digging for gold!  They were huge!
We are so excited about them!  As you can see we also had 2 baby watermelons left.

Sunday was a spirit filled day as we celebrated our 3 year birthday with our church.  The way God moved was truly indescribleable as we were moved to awe watching God move his people to give to Charity Water and be baptized.  You can celebrate with us at www.awakenamovement.com.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend as well!  Try some homemade maple syrup!  Visit awakenamovement.com!  Make your Monday feel like the weekend!

The Perfect Remedy

So like I've mentioned I'm out of town for 8 weeks...well 4 more weeks now.  (HALF WAY!)  Its torturous to be uprooted for 2 months from my life but I like my "job" and I have a very sweet "Jackson family".  So after a particularly bad Monday and subsequent homesick week, some of my sweet friends decided to get together and cheer me up!  It was such a perfect remedy for my long week!  I have the best friends.  But you haven't heard the best part yet...

They decided to do a CRAFT!  Yes, you heard me right.  The boys were banished to the basement and we listened to music, laughed, and made the cutest fabric flowers you've ever seen.  I'm so lucky to have Caity from CraftDayistheBestDay.com as a friend!

My friends indulge me.  I made them take a picture with their fabric choices.

I'm sure Caity will post a tutorial on this one day so I won't steal her thunder, but its super easy!  We actually didn't pester her incessantly for help...just one step below that.

The finished products.

Showing off our flowers.

Caity helped us perfect the hair flower.  I definitely wore mine all day Saturday to unpack.  And a little birdie told me one flower went on a run and another flower made cleaning the house all day such a fashionable chore.  See...they are so versatile!
Such giddy crafters.  Who take their own photos by self-timer.
Yay for weekends!  Mine was great!  Hope yours was too!  Only 3 more days until yet another!

I'm back!

Ok...Ok...Ok...I'm back.  I know you've missed me.  Well "missed me" is a strong statement, if you are like Cara, you have missed having something to do in class after you've read all of Lofton' s updates.  But either way, you're stuck I'm back.

Let me explain my absence:
1.  School is sucking the soul right out of me right now.  Our teachers are nitpicking us to death with random projects.  I'll see you sorta in November...a little more in December...then again in March a bit.  Then I'm a brand new person in August!
2.  My camera got lost/stolen at the Denver airport so I was without for a couple of weeks.  Lucky for me, I'm insured out the wazoo and had coverage on my camera ...so I'm back in the game (picture me sliding in sock footed like in those Rock Band commercials).

We have thousands of things going on in life right now; however, very few of which are blog worthy...Sad day!

Labor day!

We spent time with wonderful friends at their house boat.  It was so relaxing!  We read books...B laid out...We ate tons of fabulous food!
A couple had a wedding on the shore where about 10 house boats were parked directly in the line of view (see the wedding set up in the background).  They asked us to move about 3 minutes before the bride walked down the aisle...it was awkward.  So instead of doing the impossible task of moving 10 house boats, we all watched the wedding with binoculars.

Played some corn hole on the 3rd deck of a friend's boat.

Enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather!
Next...A little cuteness!
I am feeding him fresh steamed broccoli  You heard me correctly.  He has those neon green trees on his plate...And more importantly, he is eating it!  Can you believe it?  Its because it is covered in ketchup.  He was literally sucking the ketchup off the chicken he had with it.  I love when kids eat healthy even if its covered in ketchup.
**Ignore the princess plate he is eating off of...that's what happens when you have an older sister.

B and I got glasses.  Its official we are old!
Nerds.  B hates that I made him take this.

So that's about it for now.  I'll have more soon-ish!
Love you!
